Ratan Naval Tata is an established Indian industrialist, philanthropist, investor, and a former chairman of Tata Sons. He was also served as the chairman of Tata Groups, from 1991 to 2012. From 24 October 2016 to February 2017; he served again as interim chairman of Tata Groups. He is the head of the charitable trusts of Tata Groups, Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust and their allied trusts. These trusts have a combined stake of 66% in Tata Sons, Tata Group’s holding company. When Tata Sons removed Cyrus Mistry as its Chairman in October 2016, nearly 4 years after he took over the reins of the over $ 100 billion conglomerate. Ratan Tata made a comeback, taking over the company interim boss for 4 months. Ratan Tata has received two of the highest civilian awards of India. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan in the year 2008 and Padma Bhushan in the year 2000.
